The Games are on our shelves and line the walls of our gaming rooms, but how often do these games reach the tables that they helped inspire? Games like Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Catan, and Carcassonne help us teach new gamers, but are they still fun? Do they still deserve a play through from time to time?
Last week, me and my wife went to hang out with my Mother-in-law, and we brought Ticket to Ride. It is a game that we enjoy playing together, and it is a game that I would play over and over.
It has its merits as being a resource collecting game, and also layers in strategy.
There is also other Gateway Games that help us get the games we want to play.
I grew up playing Monopoly and Risk, but I did not enjoy playing Monopoly as much because of how long the game took and also the elimination aspect takes the joy of the game.
Settlers of Catan is another awesome game that replaces the Monopoly problems, and is a great game that needs to hit the table. This game was replaced by Lords of Waterdeep and similar.
These are the games that started many a journey into the amazing hobby of collecting Board Games.
